Social Connection, Friendships, Love and Belonging

April 23, 2019 ~ 11:00am – 11:45 am EST

Lead: Amanda Rich, PhD.

The Alliance for Citizen Directed Supports recognizes love and belonging as fundamental human needs and human rights. In this webinar, we will explore how meaningful social connections sustain us, keep us healthy and safe and give meaning to our lives.  We will also explore the destructive impact of loneliness and isolation and how preventing and disrupting freely-given, social connection is both a tool and consequence of systematic oppression.  We will explore how some advocates and allies of people with disabilities are working to promote and remove the barriers to civic participation, family, friendship, romance and other avenues to love and belonging.
